Danielle & Sean’s Hawaii elopement on Oahu was such a fun beach elopement!
About the Oahu elopement
These two are a super artsy couple, so I knew their elopement was going to be a blast and full of creativity. She’s an art director for an advertising agency – such a cool job! They live in San Francisco, and wanted someplace for their elopement that screamed “Hawaii” and adventure. The two things I’m best at!
So we ventured to one of Oahu’s beautiful cliffsides, with gorgeous bright blue waters in the background and rocky cliffs everywhere. I absolutely love cliffside beach elopements because of the sense of smallness you feel when you’re overlooking Oahu and the blue ocean! Plus, you usually get a good amount of wind that really makes for beautiful hair and dress movement.
This was the last time I photographed anybody before my maternity leave, and I gave birth exactly a week after this day!! I’m so grateful that the timing worked out so I could celebrate with these two and go on this adventure with them.
My top Hawaii elopement/adventure elopement tip
Our original location didn’t work out for Danielle and Sean’s elopement because of a huge storm! So this cliffside was actually our backup plan – a great example of when plan B works out so so perfectly.
That’s why one of my top tips for adventure elopements is to always have a backup plan (or two)!
When you’re planning to be outdoors, especially in Hawaii, you can never truly predict what the weather will be like. The last thing we want is for you to plan for a super sunny day, only to end up in a torrential downpour and allow it to ruin your big day.
Having a backup plan is super important so that we’re prepared for the worst and don’t have to worry about scrambling the day-of, even if the weather decides to be bad for us! I’m the kind of person that just likes to go with the flow and knows the importance of being flexible, so I always encourage my couples to be ready to adapt and be proactive no matter what situation we end up in.
