Magnus and Molly’s vintage-inspired couples session on Oahu was such a pleasure to shoot! The couple met in Norway. Magnus is Norwegian, and Molly was there studying for her graduate school program. Since meeting they have done so many fun hobbies together- road biking, traveling, furniture making, cooking, and film photography. For their wedding, they tied the knot in a beautiful historic courthouse in San Francisco, California.
Editorial and vintage couples session photography
For this session, they wanted an editorial and vintage-inspired shoot, two of my favorite things-think Wes Anderson vibes. We took film photos during their session too, which was fun. It really showed off their incredibly artistic personalities and let them get some cool pictures with each other. The two of them have so much fun when they are together, so we really wanted to incorporate that into their session.
During the session, I had full creative freedom. It was really fun to play around and let the inspiration just flow naturally. I really focused on minimalist background and clothing, so the focus is more fully centered on the couple. When picking your outfits for couples’ sessions, always keep the final vision in mind.
For Magnus and Molly, it was all about classic vintage and simplicity. Magnus wore a white button-down with black pants. Molly chose two outfits. The first was a chic mini skirt and top, and she wore cat-eye sunglasses with it. Her second look was a simple white t-shirt and black pants to coordinate with Magnus. Both looks were easy to move in and created the perfect contrast with the clear blue skies and white sand.
Shooting this vintage-inspired couples session was so much fun. Magnus and Molly were such a joy to shoot. Their creative energy really shined on camera! I love being able to be creative and artistic and truly create something unique that reflects my couples. If you are thinking about booking a Hawaiian couples session, get in touch! I would love to hear about your vision for your photoshoot.
